Backyard fun

Saturday was gorgeous outside. It's been so nice to be able to use our backyard!

123 Jump!

We dropped in on Ms. M. and family camping this weekend. I took the opportunity to pull out the camera and grab some pictures. The boys were all very understanding, of course as long as I didn't interrupt the games!

p.s. noon was the very worst time I could have chosen to take these. The lighting is so harsh and the squinting couldn't be helped!

The one time I did actually ask them to pose for me. M. and A. were happy to oblige a poor, begging lady.

This little guy is so easy going and loves to ham it up for the camera as you'll see!

Trying to figure out why I was following him around..

Baby Jackson

Finally, a child that isn't my own! Jackson is 3 1/2 months old and unlike Eli has no problems looking head on. With those eyes, who can blame him. :)

He was all about the camo hat.

Eli couldn't stop hugging Isabelle.

Evening Light

I pulled the camera out last night to test some evening light. I got one good shot with Eli. Boy I have some learning to do.

I did get one of Bandit since he was the only one holding still.

Early A.M.

One thing I'm going to struggle with is finding time to pull out the camera. I was actually up and dressed before Elijah woke up this morning so I was ready for him. He wasn't ready for a camera in his face first thing in the morning but it was good practice for me.

Sleepiness to follow.

Eli and Grandma

This one came out blurry but I'm posting it because I'm proud to say he's finally starting to look like me.. :)

I like how the light from the window was a backlight regardless of the hotwheels banner.

He waits for the bus every morning.

To photoshop or not to photoshop...

I think those of us who start out in the digital age are spoiled brats! Then again, you didn't have to learn about photoshop or other digital software which I count as a negative.

Here are some shots from the weekend after using some filters:

The little bugger wouldn't look up.

He wanted his sippy cup from the table.

We put Bandit the cat outside for awhile. He now loves and appreciates Elijah.

Getting to know you..

More like getting to know my camera! I bought a camera on ebay and so far I haven't broken it. I count that as a win in my book! I had talked myself out of buying it until Steve reminded me that I haven't stopped talking about doing this in forever. Now or never!

Thus, I purchased a Sony DSLR A-100 and Minolta telephoto lens. I try to read all about it during lunch breaks at work and after Eli goes to bed.

Breaking Out

I've finally decided to pursue a dream. I'm not very good at it so hopefully this can be a place of reflection and practice.

I've always had an urge to pursue some form of artistic platform. In the past it has been drawing, painting and photography. These were things I did when I had nothing better to do with my time because of course survival in the form of career came first. If my crazy talented husband has taught me anything, it is taking the bull by the horns, laying it all out there and fighting for something "outside the box". Thus, I've decided to try photography. Not only that but after having Elijah, I've been really interested in children's photography. I hope to hone my skills by trying new things and putting it out there to see what happens.
